We're excited to announce the official launch of the EZGB API Pilot, a major step forward in making energy data integration simpler, faster, and more powerful for developers and organizations across Ontario and beyond.
The EZGB API Pilot opens up a secure, standards-based gateway for third-party platforms to connect directly with utility energy data through the Green Button Connect My Data (CMD) standard. Whether you're building energy dashboards, sustainability reporting tools, or smart building applications, the EZGB API provides the foundation you need.
What Is the EZGB API?
The EZGB API is a RESTful interface that allows authorized partners to securely access Green Button energy data on behalf of their users. Built on OAuth 2.0 authentication and aligned with the NAESB Energy Services Provider Interface (ESPI) standard, the API provides granular interval-level energy consumption data in JSON format.
Technical Highlights
- OAuth 2.0 authorization flow for secure, delegated access
- RESTful endpoints returning JSON-formatted energy data
- Aligned with Green Button CMD and NAESB ESPI standards
- Interval-level consumption data (hourly, daily, monthly)
- Sandbox environment for development and testing
- Comprehensive API documentation and developer portal
Integration Partner Case Studies
Enerlife Consulting
Enerlife Consulting leverages the EZGB API to power their energy benchmarking platform. By integrating directly with utility data, they've eliminated manual data collection for their clients and reduced onboarding time from weeks to hours.
"The EZGB API has transformed how we onboard new clients. What used to take weeks of back-and-forth with utilities now happens in minutes through a seamless authorization flow."
